Studenter-leder i Tunesien fængslet

Her følger Min egen, redigerede, version af pressemeddelelsen på engelsk.

Tunisia: Release student activist Essam Salami!

Based on information from the General Union of Tunisian Students

On the night between Saturday 26 September and Sunday 27 September, comrade Essam Salami, leading activist in the General Union of Tunisian Students, was kidnapped with two of his relatives, as they were on their way to Jendouba. According to information given to us, comrade Essam Salami has been subjected to brutal physical and psychological violence from the police.

The police charges against him are not yet known in details, but in any case they are fabricated from start to finish.

The General Union of Tunisian Students has raised the following demands:

1: Essam Salami must be released immediately, and all prosecutions against him must be stopped.

2: The repressivce practices of the authorities must be condemned. The authorities must be held responsible for the safety of the comrade.

3: The attack on the comrade is an attack on the General Union of Tunisian Students and its militants. It is noteworthy, that this attack coincides with the beginning of the academic year.

4: The General Union of Tunisian Students call on all democratic forces to stand by its militants against all forms of repression and restrictions.

Long live the General Union of Tunisian Students!
